His Brother Got Fired From His Job and Moved In With Him but He’s Breaking the House Rules so He Wants To Kick Him Out

A man is having issues with his freeloading brother, who hasn’t got a job and lives with him for free. The brother recently broke one of the house rules, so the man wants to kick him out. But would that make him a jerk?

Here’s what he had to say.

His brother, James, was recently fired from the local McDonald’s because he was always late for work.

His parents had asked him to move out after 18 because he didn’t want to attend college. He then had to get a job as his parents stopped paying his bills.

“He first asked our parents if he could move back with them since he could no longer afford to pay his rent, but they declined,” the man said.

He then asked his brother if he could stay at his house, and he told him that it would be okay if he followed a few ground rules.

Firstly, he had to keep looking for a new job and move out as soon as he was able to, and secondly, he shouldn’t smoke weed in the house.

The final rule was that he didn’t want his brother to lecture him about his communist beliefs.

The man said his brother is an outspoken communist and would read the Communist manifesto in his spare time. He has been doing this since he was 14 years old and also posted online in forums.

“Now, I am not a multi-millionaire, but I own a recruitment agency, and I am doing well for myself. Since I own a business, my brother is not too happy with my source of income. James agreed to my terms and moved in. I have a few empty rooms, so that wasn’t a problem,” the man said.

Initially, everything was going great. But one day, as the man was watching Fox News in the living room, his brother told him to “turn off that fascist propaganda.”

The man didn’t quite catch it and asked the brother to repeat himself. And that’s when he started ranting about “how easy it is to be in favor of fascism when you [are] part of the upper class and exploiting your employees.”

“I got extremely frustrated with him and told him that he has one week to move out of my house,” the man explained.

Now the brother did say sorry and didn’t expect the man to be so offended, but he told him he’d had enough of taking care of him and needed to sort out his own life.

The man feels a bit bad because his brother has nowhere to go. If he kicks him out, he may literally end up on the street.

On the other hand, it may prove a valuable lesson for the brother.

So the man asked the Reddit community for advice on whether he was wrong for kicking out his brother.

One user said, “your brother needs to learn respect and responsibility. Living on his own will teach him That real quick. You did the right thing. His lack of respect for you needs to come with circumstances.”

Another said, “NTA. You gave very reasonable ground rules that he agreed to and couldn’t keep.”

And a third person wrote, “NTA, lecturing someone in whose home you’re a guest is extremely rude, let alone when you were specifically asked to refrain from it. Sounds like he won’t learn to respect you or anyone else unless he’s forced, unfortunately.”

What do you think? Is the man right for kicking out his brother?
