She Inherited a Valuable Ring From Her Grandma and Now Her Cousin Thinks She Should Have It Instead

A woman has questioned whether she was right for refusing to give her cousin a ring left to her by her grandmother.

Here is what she had to say.

The woman’s grandmother, from her mother’s side, passed away three months ago and left her the two houses she owned and her expensive engagement ring.

The woman herself is a tomboy, so she does not particularly like wearing dresses or jewelry. So much so that she cannot remember the last time she wore a dress!

Recently, the woman’s family had a get-together, just as they do every year, with both her mom’s side and dad’s side of the family.

At the event, the woman wore her grandmother’s ring to remember her, which was a tradition started by the older members of her family.

The ring was slightly too big to fit on her finger perfectly, so she placed it back in its packet and ensured it was sealed, as she did not want to lose it.

A few hours later, however, she decided to wear the ring again for some time.

As the woman removed the ring from her pocket to place on her finger, her cousin saw it and ran towards her.

Her cousin loves jewelry and, as such, asked the woman where she had got the ring from.

The cousin tried, again and again, to take the ring from the woman, but the woman kept refusing her.

This was because her cousin has, over the years, taken things from others and has a habit of not returning them, the woman said.

Eventually, the woman’s cousin got annoyed and shouted at her, demanding she give her the ring.

In response, the woman pointed out the many things her cousin had borrowed from her, such as makeup, that she never returned.

Her cousin turned red with embarrassment as everybody began watching their argument.

Despite this, she told the woman that she would make better use of the ring as she would wear it more.

The woman continued to refuse, to which her cousin began crying and said that someone like her did not deserve something so good-looking.

From here, the woman’s grandmother on her father’s side came forward and told her to give the ring to her cousin.

This was because the woman “had already received a lot of things” from her grandparents and didn’t need the money.

But the woman never intended to sell the ring. It was worth far more than money to her.

The woman’s grandmother always told her that she loved the ring and that even if she had no use for it, she should always keep it with her.

The woman, therefore, asked the Reddit community whether she should give in and hand over the ring to her cousin.

“If your paternal grandmother wants your cousin to have a ring, she can give your cousin one of hers,” said one commenter.

“Your family members have no business giving away your things just because your cousin is a spoiled brat.”

“Your grandmother wanted you to have it rather than the greedy cousin,” said another person.

“That’s the only thing that matters. Don’t let them steal away the precious things your grandmother wanted you to have.”

What do you think? Was the woman right for not giving the ring to the cousin?
