Senior Staff Member Demands They Make Coffee for Him Every Day but Now They’ve Had Enough

This woman refused to make her demanding work colleague a cup of coffee, and she’s asking the Reddit community if it was the right move.

She shares an office with another woman. The pair are real coffee lovers. So instead of drinking the stale, black stuff that the office coffee lady brings around, they decided to buy some gourmet blend, creamer, fresh milk, and coffee spices.

They also bought their own kettle, mugs, and spoons to create a personal coffee station in their office.

A few days ago, one of their co-workers came into their office. He’s not the boss, but he does have a senior role within the company.

He spotted the tasty-looking coffee, and the woman’s friend, who she named Mina for this story, offered to make him one. He accepted.

A few days later, he made another visit, only this time he asked for a coffee. In fact, he pretty much demanded one.

“He bursts into our office and orders Mina to make him another one,” posted the woman on Reddit. “Mina said yes, made his coffee, and took it to his office.”

Fast forward a few hours, and the guy is back, demanding a second cup. Mina was busy with important work, but she reluctantly agreed.

The woman told Mina to set some boundaries.

“I advised her to make this one last coffee and next time just tell him that he can have this special coffee when he visits us in our office,” the woman said.

A few days later, the woman was alone in the office. In other words, there was no Mina.

So when the guy showed up again, he expected the woman to become his personal barista.

And she was shocked.

“I couldn’t believe he just demanded it from me,” said the woman.

She didn’t want to be rude toward a senior staff member, so she tried to talk her way out of it.

“I told him I don’t know what coffee Mina made for him,” she said.

But that wasn’t enough to discourage his demanding ways. Instead, he explained precisely how Mina made his coffee, expecting the woman to follow all his instructions and then carry and deliver it to his office.

She stared at the guy in disbelief. Then she politely reminded him that she wasn’t the coffee lady and that he should probably speak to her if he wanted a fresh brew.

Now the guy looked shocked. He said nothing, but the woman could tell he was annoyed.

The woman returned to work, thinking the little workplace drama was over.

It wasn’t.

A few minutes later, a different co-worker walked into the office. Without saying a word, she started making one of those specialty coffees the guy likes. And she was making it in Mina’s cup.

The woman had to call her out.

“I asked: Are you making coffee for yourself?”

She said no, then confessed to making it for the senior worker.

The woman wanted to know why this guy had so many co-workers wrapped around his finger.

“But why you…? Isn’t the coffee lady supposed to do that?” I asked.

She agreed but said it’s best not to say anything and just do what the guy wants.

Mina knows there’s something weird going on with this guy, who has a strange and disturbing influence over his co-workers. Still, she’s determined not to become another one of his coffee ladies.

And she asked Reddit if standing her ground is right, despite this guy being higher up the corporate ladder.

“You need to talk to your boss ASAP so they can stand up for you,” one person advised. “The guy demanding coffee seems like a jerk, and I’d absolutely not want to do anything for him.”

“This man is not only stealing your personal supplies but wasting company time making women his personal baristas. The sexism is real,” said another. “All three of you should complain to the boss.”

What do you think? Would you have made this guy the coffee?
