He Found Out He Was Getting Fired So Called the Safety Inspector and Got the Entire Factory Closed

A guy decided to get his former workplace shut down forever after his boss fired him for no reason. Brutal.

A few years ago, this guy was working for a recruitment agency. They found him a great job. It was 15 minutes from his home, paid $22 an hour, and he got three days off per week.

“19-year-old me loved it,” wrote the guy on Reddit.

Plus, after a three-month trial period through the agency, the company would take him on permanently.

The guy enjoyed the job but noticed a few things that needed to be corrected.

“There were a lot of safety issues,” said the guy. “It was really loud; your ears would ring when you went outside. It was also kind of dangerous because the forklift drivers all wore earplugs, and I never saw anyone wearing safety goggles.”

But the guy cracked on with the job, never missing a single day or turning up late for work during his first two months and 30 days. He was a model worker. Even his other coworkers said so, with one calling him a quick learner and someone with real potential.

One day, a safety inspector turned up for a surprise visit. The entrance to the warehouse was locked, so the boss had time to tell everyone to put on their safety equipment before the inspector managed to get through the door. The inspector looked around, saw that everything appeared to be in order, then left again.

The second he was gone, everyone took off their safety equipment and carried on like before.

The guy didn’t think about it again – until he got some unexpected news from his boss.

On the day before he was due to become a permanent employee, the guy was called into the boss’s office. The boss told him he didn’t work there anymore. Simple as that. No apologies, no explanation, nothing.

The guy was furious and thought the boss had some personal vendetta against him. He called the recruitment agency for an explanation, but they didn’t have one.

Now the guy was raging. And he decided to get some revenge.

So he called the safety inspector’s office, telling them what really went on inside that warehouse.

“I told them about how unsafe it is and how they basically put on a show when the inspectors were there. I told the guy on the phone that if the inspector went into the employees’ parking lot, there’s an unlocked door that goes directly into the factory.”

Around two or three weeks later, the guy drove past his old workplace.

And he couldn’t believe what he saw.

No cars were in the parking lot, and all the doors and windows were boarded up. The safety inspector had acted on the tip and closed the place down.

That was over seven years ago, and the place has never reopened.

The guy admits it was a petty thing to do and that his motivation was revenge. But as one person suggested, dropping a dime was still the right thing to do.

“Honestly, you probably saved lives,” wrote one person. “I worked at a factory for a while where they insisted on using eye protection, ear protection, burn sleeves, and steel toe boots, but there were still accidents and occasionally even deaths. I can’t imagine what the body count must have been at the one you worked at, where they just blatantly didn’t care about safety.”

Would you have called the safety inspector?
