His Parents Think He’s Living in Sin for Not Marrying His Girlfriend, but He Secretly Knows His Mom Got Pregnant Before Marrying His Dad

A man recently found a clever way to stop his parents from constantly asking him to marry his girlfriend as they were ‘living in sin.’ But you shouldn’t throw stones when you live in glasshouses, so the man knew just what to say to shut them up.

Here’s what happened.

The guy works as a nurse practitioner and is the primary care provider for many low-risk maternity cases at the practice where he is employed.

He also works with the doctors and midwives, hand in hand, to create a healthy situation throughout maternity, birth, and postpartum.

His fiancé works in a similar field and is currently completing her residency. The two have lived together for several years now.

Though they are in no rush to get married, they have set their wedding for later this year in June.

The couple had initially planned to wed two years ago, but they were both extremely busy for the two years that followed.

He comes from a religious family, and the fact that he is “living in sin” with his fiancé is something that has angered both of his parents.

A few months ago, for Christmas, he and his fiancé traveled to visit his parents, where everyone in his family had gathered.

He and his fiancé were two of 17 people that, included his parents, his three siblings, and the seven grandchildren his parents have, among others.

“At dinner, my mom started going on about how she is so glad that we are finally getting married, and she won’t be embarrassed at church anymore,” he said.

“My dad said how proud he is of his three older kids who all either waited to get married before moving in together or got married right away after moving in together.”

The man’s fiancé was getting embarrassed by the conversation, which only furthered his anger, as it was an argument that had happened many times before.

For him, to have that discussion at a family dinner was “the last straw.”

In the past, he has repeatedly asked his parents to accept that they cannot control how he lives his life, going so far as to stay in hotels when he visits rather than their house, as it is easier.

To move away from the discussion, he started talking about a premature baby he had been reading about.

“It was almost three months premature and weighed about 1.6 pounds,” he explained.

“It was super strong and healthy for being born so little, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit had high hopes for the baby doing well.”

This story caused both his mother and father to get “deer in the headlight” looks on their faces.

He then asked his eldest brother if there was any chance they could read the family album of birth records because, as it just so happened, his brother was also born four months premature.

However, oddly enough, he weighed over nine pounds when he was born.

The man’s parents quickly changed the subject and told him he should not try to embarrass them with private matters.

Turns out, his mom was pregnant before she married his dad, and they had been trying to keep it a secret ever since he was born.

However, the man’s grandmother had once told him after she saw how much his parents were bullying him.

The man told his parents that if ever his living arrangements were brought up again, he would continue to bring up the fact that his mother was in her second trimester when she and his father were married.

This has now caused a family argument, and his parents are angry at him for telling them how to behave. His fiancé, however, is happy that they seem to have moved away from that subject permanently.

The man asked the Reddit community if he had crossed a line, but luckily, they didn’t think so.

“That was beautifully handled,” said one commenter. “You didn’t call them out and embarrass them, but you stood your ground.”

“I did laugh out loud when you said where you had got your blackmail information. Grandma had that in her pocket for a long time, I’m guessing.”

“It’s often the people with most things to hide who enjoy judging others for things that are none of their business,” said another.

What do you think? Was the man right in calling out his parents’ hypocrisy?
