A man recently asked the Reddit community if he was wrong for shouting at his girlfriend to stop eating his food.
Here’s what he had to say.
The man’s sister runs a bakery business, and she’s been struggling lately to keep up with orders because she’s been short-staffed. The sister makes a lot of cakes for weddings that require custard or marmalade fillings, so the guy offered to help her by making these fillings at his house, and he would then bring them over to his sister once he was done.
Unfortunately, during the last four times that the guy has been making the fillings, his girlfriend was there and wanted a taste of the delicious gooey stuff. “[She] literally dipped her fingers into the filling jars and contaminated them because, in her words, she ‘just wanted to try some,'” the guy said.
He has tried to explain to his girlfriend that she can’t just dip her fingers into the fillings because she’ll contaminate the entire batch, and he would then have to remake it.
He told her to use a spoon if she wanted to try it so badly, but she said she likes to use her fingers because it takes her back to her childhood.
The final straw for the guy was recently when he was finishing some chocolate custard. He needed the batch done quickly because he had to send it to his sister’s house as she was running late on a wedding cake order for an important client.
He told his girlfriend not to eat the custard and, if she really wanted to, use a spoon.
But unfortunately, she didn’t listen.
“I get out of the shower, and what do I see? She has her fingers in it again!”
The guy completely lost it because this was the fifth time his girlfriend blatantly disregarded what he said. So he yelled at her and told her to stop eating the food. It was not for her, and she was contaminating it.
Now, his girlfriend is upset. She started crying and got mad at him for fat shaming her, even though he made no comment on her weight whatsoever. The guy also makes it clear that his girlfriend has no history of weight issues or eating disorders.
So he asked the Reddit community if he was too harsh in yelling at his girlfriend, but they were in full support of his actions.
One user said, “Does she also wear a diaper and draw on the walls with crayons because it reminds her of her childhood?”
Another wrote, “he shouldn’t even give her the okay to taste any of it with a spoon either! Anyone who’s heathen enough to stick their fingers in the jar will also likely lick that spoon clean and stick it right back in for another go. Or she’d likely use the same dirty spoon to sample all the flavors. Blecchhh.”
