He Was Trying To Help His Girlfriend Lose Weight but Then Found Out She Was Eating Chocolate Behind His Back and Now He’s Fed Up

A man recently asked the Reddit community if he was wrong for telling his girlfriend that she needed to go to the gym after trying to help her lose weight and finding out she was secretly eating food behind his back.

Here’s what he had to say.

About two years ago, the man’s doctor told him that he needed to lose some weight as he was pre-diabetic and was at high risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Furthermore, his BMI was really high, and the doctor said that he would increase his risk of cardiovascular disease if he didn’t lose weight.

“Then, for the next two years, I worked out basically five days a week till I got into shape,” the man said.

During his weight loss journey, he met his girlfriend at the gym. They went out on dates and then quickly got into a relationship.

However, after they got into the relationship, things changed.

The man continued to work on himself and got into great shape, but his girlfriend, unfortunately, stopped working out.

“She used to be a rock climber and completely stopped that. Now her physical activity has basically come to a halt,” the man said.

In the beginning, he said nothing because you don’t have to be super fit to be healthy, and he was fine with it. But then things got worse.

“Eventually, she goes to the doctor, and he tells her that she has to do something about her weight. During this period, I pushed her to go to the gym, but she just didn’t make an effort,” the man explained.

But that wasn’t the end of the problem. His girlfriend asked him to help her eat healthier so that she could get her weight under control. As a result, he started making healthy meals, and he made sure to make them as tasty as possible.

This, of course, took up a lot of time. He tried new recipes and different things that she might like so that he could make it easy for her. He could just as easily have made chicken in batches and put them into the air fryer, but she didn’t want to eat that.

Despite his cooking efforts and pushing her to go to the gym, his girlfriend recently told him that she wasn’t losing weight. She told him she would try harder and wasn’t eating anything extra.

“Then, last night, while looking for my PS5 controller, I opened a side drawer in the loft only to find wrappers and new chocolates. I took it all to her, and after, she confessed. She told me she had been eating sweets the entire time and would eat from outside when she was at work,” the man said.

He got very frustrated and was annoyed with all the hard work he put into helping her get healthier. He ended up telling her that she needed to go to the gym.

His girlfriend started crying and told him that she was fat shaming her.

“Now I know how hard losing weight can be, but she isn’t even trying. She’s literally eating jars of Nutella behind my back. I tell her I can’t help her if she can’t help herself,” the man said.

So the man asked the Reddit community if he was too hard on her and if he was in the wrong.

Luckily for him, they thought he had acted very reasonably and didn’t see anything wrong with his actions.

One user said, “She asked you for advice. You gave her advice. She’s mad at you for it.”

Another wrote, “he put in all this effort for her at his own expense. She saw him prepping food for HER and let it continue for months while she continued her facade and even had the cheek to constantly tell him she isn’t losing weight.”

Do you think the guy was right to tell his girlfriend to go to the gym?
