Her Roommate’s Boyfriend Was Driving Her Crazy so She Secretly Moved Out and Now They’re Furious

A woman recently told how she secretly moved out of a house to escape her roommates’ deadbeat boyfriend.

The woman lived with her two friends, Ben and Crystal, in a house share in New Orleans.

The trio had just left college and got on great together. They all had separate lives, but the house had a good vibe whenever everyone was home.

“We had a great time hanging out together,” posted the woman on Reddit. “[It was] the perfect roommate situation.”

But everything started to change after Crystal began dating Pablo.

Pablo was, in this woman’s own words, the “ultimate deadbeat.” And to make matters worse, Pablo had a real Napoleon complex. He was one of those little guys who loved acting like a big tough guy.

In true deadbeat fashion, Pablo got evicted from his apartment and asked if he could stay with Crystal temporarily while he found a new place.

The woman and Ben agreed.

“Being understanding and empathetic and trusting Crystal (we had no reason not to), we said sure, as long as it’s temporary,” says the woman.

But that turned out to be a huge mistake.

Shortly after moving in on that “temporary basis,” Pablo lost his job. Then it became clear that Pablo had a drinking problem. He was a drunk. In fact, he was the worst kind of drunk, turning aggressive and dangerous after a few beers.

Some of the stuff he did in his drunken stupors was absolutely shocking.

He verbally abused Crystal, killed a pet fish by holding it under scalding water, broke Ben’s game console, left burning pots on the stove, and left the front door of the house wide open after coming home drunk (not a great thing to do in any part of New Orleans).

But it gets worse.

During one drunken rant, Pablo started screaming racial slurs at the woman’s then-boyfriend.

And if one vice wasn’t enough, Pablo started gambling – and losing. He lost his and Crystal’s money, meaning the pair needed more to cover the rent. Crystal asked the woman if she could borrow some money for the rent, then pay her back at the end of the month. Again, the woman agreed.

Another (very) bad decision.

“Being a trusting empath and feeling like I had no other choice, I did,” says the woman. “I was furious to find out they had left for a long weekend at a casino resort in Mississippi before paying me back.”

The woman and Ben decided it was time to make a stand. They sat Crystal down and told her that Pablo’s behavior was unacceptable. They also wanted to know when Pablo was moving out.

Crystal defended Pablo and offered no timeframe for when he’d be finding his own place.

The woman and Ben started to realize that Pablo had no intention of changing or leaving the house.

And so they decided to leave instead.

The woman worked like crazy, balancing two full-time jobs until she had enough money saved up to put a deposit on a new house. She found a great place, put down an offer, and closed the deal shortly after.

Then she waited for Crystal and Pablo to disappear on one of their gambling trips. When the pair finally left, the woman rounded up 15 friends, hired a flatbed truck, and moved all her and Ben’s stuff out of their shared house in a single day.

She took everything that didn’t belong to Crystal or Pablo, including furniture, kitchen stuff, and everything in the common rooms.

Crystal and Pablo returned to a completely empty house. They were furious and demanded an explanation from the woman, who was more than happy to give them one.

“We told them we had switched the utilities to the new house, and we had informed the landlady and paid out our share of the remainder of the lease,” says the woman. “The looks on their faces were priceless. We left and never saw them again!”

Bye-bye, Crystal, and bye-bye, Pablo.

“Pablo is one unhinged nut case, and Crystal is mad for sticking with him,” posted one person on Reddit. “Glad you managed to make a clean getaway from that horrendous situation.

What would you do if someone like Pablo invaded your peaceful house share?
