Pocahontas (1995)
Disney’s portrayal of the titular character’s relationship with John Smith is wildly inaccurate. Pocahontas was a child when Smith arrived in Virginia, and there’s no historical evidence to support a romantic relationship between the two.
The Patriot (2000)
Mel Gibson’s Revolutionary War drama simplifies and misrepresents many aspects of the actual conflict. The British are presented as near-demonic, and several battles and timelines are either fictional or significantly altered
Pearl Harbor (2001)
Despite its dramatic premise, Pearl Harbor misrepresents several aspects of the infamous attack. The movie includes fictionalized characters and love stories, exaggerated aerial combat scenes, and several timeline inaccuracies.
Apocalypto (2006)
Mel Gibson’s portrayal of the Mayan civilization is filled with inaccuracies. The film misrepresents Mayan culture, includes architectural inaccuracies, and incorrectly associates the Mayans with human sacrifice, a practice more common in the later Aztec civilization.
Troy (2004)
This dramatized interpretation of Homer’s ‘Iliad’ takes liberties with the epic poem’s events and characters. While entertaining, its portrayal of the Trojan War does not align with the literary source or archaeological findings.

Argo (2012)
The film, based on the “Canadian Caper” during the Iran hostage crisis, minimizes Canada’s significant role. The movie paints a picture of the CIA as the sole heroes, while in reality, the escapees were largely saved by the effort of Canadian ambassador Ken Taylor.
The Greatest Showman (2017)
This musical biopic of P.T. Barnum glosses over many controversial aspects of his life, presenting a sanitized version of a man known for his exploitative practices. The film romanticizes Barnum’s career, leaving out his numerous ethical and business failings.
