His Neighbor Wouldn’t Stop Throwing Parties so He Set Him Up and Got Him Evicted

A man recently told the story of how he came home to find a large party next door.

He needed a good night’s sleep to wake up fresh for work on Monday. So he rang the neighbor’s doorbell and asked the first person he saw to turn the music down.

But the neighbor throwing the party took offense and started shouting abuse across the balconies of the two apartments. Then he became even more aggressive, telling him to come out and fight him.

The man was shocked. He didn’t know how old the neighbor was, but he looked around 40ish. That’s the same age as the man and far too old to be challenging people to fight.

The stress of the situation triggered an anxiety attack in the man’s girlfriend. She had to arrange an emergency Zoom call with her therapist to help her calm down. As she explained the situation and listened to her therapist, she could hear the neighbor making threats across the balcony.

The man wasn’t going to fight. But he wasn’t going to be pushed around, either. In fact, this man knew exactly how to deal with bullies. He’d written a book and started a podcast on coping with bullying based on his own experiences.

And he was going to put that knowledge into action and teach this bully a lesson.

The first thing he did was call the police, who arrived shortly after and shut the party down. Then he contacted the landlord and explained what had happened.

The following day, the landlord informed the man that she’d left a warning on the neighbor’s apartment; one more “incident” and he’d be evicted.

But the man wanted his neighbor out now, so he devised a plan to get him evicted ASAP. And after finding out the neighbor was planning another get-together for New Year’s, the man figured out how to do it.

He told the landlord he had no problem with the neighbor having a New Year’s eve gathering.

Then whenever he saw the neighbor on the balcony, he pretend-called friends and family to ‘make arrangements’ for a massive New Year’s Eve party of his own.

He fake-called about 100 people. He even fake-booked a DJ and smoke machine.

A few days later, the landlord asked him if he was planning a huge party. He told her, “No, I’m just having a few friends over.”

The neighbor had ‘ratted’ the man out to the landlord. But that was OK. It meant the neighbor was listening to the fake party arrangements. And that’s what the man wanted.

Why? He wanted to trick the neighbor into making his party bigger and wilder, which would annoy all the neighbors and get him booted out of the building forever.

The big day arrived. The man and his girlfriend left their apartment at about 5 pm. They were spending New Year’s Eve with friends who lived an hour away.

Around 11 pm, the man’s WhatsApp started blowing up. The apartment chat group was full of angry messages about a huge party happening in the building. One person said it looked like “f*cking Times Square” in the apartment.

The cops showed up again, shut the party down, and a few days later, the noisy neighbor received his eviction notice.

Bye Bye!

This man set a trap; the bully walked straight into it. Genius.

Being the smart guy is better than being the ‘tough’ guy.

Was the man right to trick the nuisance neighbor into having another party? What would you have done?
