This guy ended a year-long relationship with his girlfriend because of an argument over earbuds.
Here’s his story.
“My girlfriend (F22) and I (M25) had been dating for almost a year. She’s in university, living in the university residence. I work full time and have my own place.”
During one visit to see her, they went on a shopping trip. The guy ended up buying his girlfriend a pair of earbuds for her iPhone. He decided to treat himself, too. He didn’t have an iPhone, so he bought a pair of Bose earbuds instead.
On the drive back to the university campus, his girlfriend said his new earbuds looked better than hers. Then she took them out of the box and paired them to her phone.
He thought she was just testing them out, so he was shocked when she said she wanted to trade earbuds.
“I told her no because AirPods would be useless to me without an iPhone,” the man said.
But he wanted to make his girlfriend happy, so he offered to return her earbuds the next day and swap them for a pair of Bose.
She kept insisting. She wanted his Bose earbuds, and she wanted them now. The guy refused.
That seemed to put an end to the conversation.
They pulled up outside the girlfriend’s university residence, and before he could turn the engine off, she pulled this sneaky move:
“As I was parking, she threw her AirPods at me and said, “thanks for the trade,” then jumped out of the moving car, still wearing my earbuds!”
He was shocked. He couldn’t believe what had happened. Then it sunk in; his girlfriend had just jacked his earbuds.
He jumped out of the car and ran after her. But the entrance to the residential building was manned by two huge security guards who “politely” reminded him about the no-guest policy.
He stood outside the building, shouting up at his girlfriend. She looked out of the window and blew him a cheeky kiss.
Now the guy was livid.
He ranted a bit more but then gave up.
“She had just robbed me, and there was nothing I could do,” said the guy. “I stalked back to my car, fuming and cursing.”
But then he spotted something that put a big smile on my face. It was the charging case for the Bose earbuds lying on the floor. As soon as the earbuds were out of juice, she could never use them again.
“I picked it up, my day suddenly brighter, and drove back to the shop. I exchanged the AirPods and got new earbuds,” shared the guy. “Then I blocked her. The next morning, I went on a road trip with friends.”
He unblocked her after the trip, bracing himself for a huge fight. But that didn’t happen. Instead, the only thing she cared about was the missing charging case.
“She asked if she had left the charging case for ‘her’ earbuds in my car,” said the guy. “I told her that I had returned the AirPods and exchanged them for new earbuds, and since my new earbuds didn’t work with ‘my’ old charging case, I had thrown the charging case away.”
That triggered his girlfriend – big time. She went crazy, calling him a jerk and all sorts of other horrible names.
Then she gave him an ultimatum: “buy me a new pair of earbuds, or we’re done.”
And the guy clapped back with this:
“I said, ‘ok, I guess we’re done,’ then hung up. I’ve been laughing ever since.”
Brutal!
