Her Husband Keeps Canceling Their Holiday so She Got Fed Up and Booked a Holiday for Herself – Now Her Husband Is Furious

This family was all set for a dream family vacation. Then the dad said he couldn’t make it because of work and asked the wife to rearrange the dates. She refused and arranged a girls-only trip with her mom instead.

Now her husband and her in-laws are calling her a brat and a jerk. Are they right?

Here’s a breakdown of what happened.

“My husband and I have been together for six years,” the woman said.

“Lately, my husband has been working on a new business venture that has completely taken up his time. As such, I have been the breadwinner for all shared expenses, the primary caregiver to our son, and caretaker of our home.”

The woman was super stressed, so she started planning little days out and weekends away. But because of her husband’s new business, he would cancel or reschedule 80% of them.

“I understand what he is doing is important,” the wife admitted. “But it sucked having to constantly call up friends last minute and say things have been canceled. It got to the point where a few friends rarely responded to my plans.”

The woman decided she deserved a long overdue vacation. And this time, it wasn’t going to get canceled or rearranged. She gave her husband plenty of advance warning.

“I had enough,” said the woman. “I told him I was planning a week-long vacation for March of this year. I kept updating him on our plans, reminding him twice a week, and paying for all of it out of my pocket.”

The husband agreed, and everything was going to plan. It looked like this vacation was going to happen. Then, just a few days before their flight, history repeated itself – again.

“All of a sudden, he gets a call that some important people that could help his business are getting into town this weekend and staying for the month,” the woman said.

Her husband told her to book new flights. He told her it wasn’t a big deal and rearranging the flights would be easy. She said no, that’s not fair.

Again, she refused to back down.

If rearranging things is so easy, why couldn’t he rearrange the meeting with these important people? He told her that was impossible. He didn’t know when these people would be in town again.

Now she was furious.

“All the effort I put into it. All of the time I put into looking at locations, attractions, things to do as a family, etc., was completely wasted,” said the woman.

She decided she wasn’t going to cancel or reschedule this holiday.

Instead, she would leave her husband behind and turn it into a girls’ vacation with her mom.

“I called my mom and asked if she wanted to go on a girls’ trip with me. She said yes, and I changed the airline tickets to her name.”

Now it was her husband’s turn to get mad.

“When my husband found out what I did, he was frustrated with me and told me I was acting like a brat.”

Since then, she’s received phone calls from his parents and mutual friends saying the same thing. They all think she’s a jerk for wanting to leave her husband behind while she goes on vacation.

She asked Reddit users if they agreed.

“Not the jerk,” posted one person. “Your husband is being selfish and, frankly, stupid. Whatever he’s doing isn’t panning out if you’re the one paying the bills. His little ‘business venture’ is going to ruin your family if you let it.”

“Agreed,” wrote another. “He needs to snap out of it and be there for you and your kids.”

Should she leave her husband at home? Is he the real jerk here?
