He only had one parking space
“In our apartment, we’re only given one specific parking space,” said the man. And that can be a problem, as he and his wife have separate cars.
They took turns
But they dealt with the situation like mature adults. And they always kept the space free for whoever needed it most. “Whichever one of us gets home first parks their car on the street, so that the other can park inside the space since evening is when it gets full,” explained the man.
The same car kept parking in their spot
But in the last few months, someone kept parking in their designated spot. And it started to get on the guy’s nerves.
She said sorry
“Our landlord’s girlfriend has been coming over and keeps using our parking space,” said the man. He and his wife have both had to ask her to move her car several times.
She acted like she was sorry
The woman always apologized. Still, she kept parking in that spot. Now the man was getting angry.
He told her to stop
The landlord’s girlfriend always acted like she was doing them a favor by moving her car. And that’s not how it should be. So the man told her directly, “It’s our spot. You don’t park there.”
She did it again
Everything seemed cool for a few weeks. Then she parked there again. And the timing couldn’t have been any worse. “I came home around 10 pm. I was exhausted, just finished working a 12-hour shift, and wanted to get home,” said the man. “But guess who was parked in our spot again?”
It was late
The man was tired. He didn’t have the energy to search for a free spot or have a late-night argument with the woman.
He blocked her in
Instead, he decided to show her the same level of disrespect she’d shown him. “I parked right behind her,” he said. He had blocked her in. Then he went to bed.
She called him petty
The following day, the ignorant parker was waiting for him in the driveway. And she had lots of thoughts to share with him. “She called me immature and petty,” said the man.
He reminded her whose driveway it was
He couldn’t believe this woman’s attitude and entitlement. He refused to apologize and reminded her that “she shouldn’t be parking there in the first place.” She stormed off in a huff.
It created tension
The landlord apologized and promised that his partner would never park in the spot again. And so far, they haven’t. But the conflict has created an awkward tension.
The landlord ignored them
Now the landlord has stopped speaking to the couple. That upset the man’s wife, as she was friendly with the landlord.

“My wife’s not happy with me,” he said. Instead of creating conflict, she thinks he should have parked somewhere else or politely asked her to move, like usual. So now he’s wondering if he is the real jerk in this story.

“Not the jerk,” assured one person. “It’s clear that neither the landlord nor her partner really cares or respects your spot. Remind your wife of this.”
