A man recently asked Reddit if he should stop his friend from bad-mouthing his toxic ex-girlfriend. She is a well-known streamer, and he’s worried about her reputation. Here’s what the man had to say.
His ex is a streamer
The man’s ex-partner is a moderately successful streamer who has gained popularity within their city. They were in a relationship five years ago when she began her streaming journey.
Their relationship started well
While they were in a relationship, the man had the opportunity to meet some of his ex-partner’s friends, including a particular woman who has now become a close friend of his.
“It all started pretty well. We respected each other. We spent time together, had fun, you know, romantic stuff. At first, we were crazy about each other,” he said.
Things got worse
However, the dynamic changed after four months, and she began insulting him regularly.
“I wasn’t allowed to talk to girls, she made fun of some parts of my body (no, not that), she started asking people in our social circle if I was gay or something cause she found it weird that I was being so nice and thoughtful,” he said.
His ex became controlling
When he wasn’t present during her streams, she would become furious, and he was expected to like her social media posts constantly, and they’d argue if he didn’t.
“She’s a 10 physically, and I’m a 7, 8 on my best day, so at first, it seemed really weird that things were working out. She was out of my league,” he said.
Their relationship broke down
Eventually, they broke up, and their friend group split into two. One of their friends took the ex’s side at first and became overly aggressive with the man, insulting him online and saying she wished he would die.
He found this odd as he had always been respectful towards both his girlfriend and the friend.
His friend got back in touch
Three months later, the friend contacted him and apologized for her actions, admitting that she had realized how toxic the man’s ex was.
“I forgave her and invited her to join our friend group again, and she’s been with us for these past 4.5 years,” he said.
His friend has been talking about his ex
Recently, the friend has been talking to people who know the man’s ex, telling them about his bad experiences with the streamer, tarnishing his ex’s reputation.
He asked the internet for advice
While the man doesn’t mind that his friend was openly discussing his past relationship with the streamer, he was unsure if he should ask her to stop because he doesn’t hold a grudge and doesn’t want to cause any problems, so he asked the internet for help.

One person said, “I would keep your friend at arm’s length. She seems very toxic herself. I would try to keep out of it as much as possible. She seems like she likes to stir the pot.”
