A woman shared how she planned a fun trip with her male friend and his female roommate. But all through the trip, her friend’s roommate was mean to her and acted indifferent to their activities. Here’s how it all went down.
Friends’ Trip
This lady (26 years old) made a friend in the last semester of school. “He became one of my best friends quickly,” she said. She met his roommate a few times, and she was “cool.” Soon the three of them planned a trip together: there was “Nothing romantic between any of us. Overall, it was a blast,” she said.
Let’s Do This Again
Toward the end of the trip, her friend said, “So, where are we going next?” She laughed and said, “I’m too tired to even think about another trip right now.” However, she knew that was a lie. Instead, she was thinking, “I am not going on another trip with the roommate again.”
Her Reason
She felt to others, her reasons might be petty, but to her, these little petty things piled up into what annoyed her. First, her friend’s roommate didn’t help a single time while they were planning the trip. And then “she seemed like she was having a bad time with most of the things we did,” she said.
She Was Quick to Insult Others
Not only that, “she called me racist loudly in the middle of a restaurant for something that was the complete opposite of racism,” she said. As if that wasn’t enough, “She told me I looked like a fool because I was walking around in shorts and a swim top at a place I thought we could swim but we couldn’t.”
More Mean Words
Sometime during the trip, while the trio was at the river, her friend was getting the car, and she said, “Let me see the cooler; I’ll bring it to the car.” To her surprise, her friend’s roommate said, “He can get it—what else are men for?”
The Shuttle Situation
Another incident that threw her off was when they were in the shuttle. While they were there, the roommate asked her to lock the car. “I pulled the keys out and locked it multiple times, watching to make sure that the lights flashed, and she was on her phone, of course,” she said. While they were pulling away, she shouted, “Lock the car!” When the woman explained that she did, the girl shouted, “Are you sure?” Really, “Get your head out of your phone for 2 seconds,” the woman said.
Her Nonchalant Attitude
When they were playing board games, the girl kept asking her how they played, and the woman was clearly reading out the instructions. “Then, when I went on to explain, she was playing on her phone the whole time, not paying attention,” she said.
Not Your Maid!
That being said, when they were about to leave at 7:30, this lady started doing all the dishes that she was sure belonged to her friend’s roommate. The roommate said, “Just leave it; I’ll do it.” Bearing that in mind, the woman went to do other things, and right before checkout, she discovered the girl playing on her phone, and the sink was still full of dirty dishes. Angrily, she and her friend cleaned everything and took them to the car.
She Enjoyed the Trip
Regardless of her friend’s roommate’s annoying attitude throughout the trip, she still enjoyed herself but had no desire to see the girl again or go on a trip with her.
The Online Community Responded
One person commented, “She’s certainly an unpleasant traveling companion. You’ll enjoy a trip more without her.”
Another wrote, “She made you mildly unhappy through the whole trip. That is tiring. She can grow up on someone else’s time. Just talk to your male friend and explain.”
