Shonda Rhimes Reveals Which Greys Character She Would Bring Back

Grey’s Anatomy is currently on its 19th season and has given us some of the most heartbreaking moments on TV.

Known for killing off many of its leading characters, Shonda Rhimes revealed in an Instagram video that the character she would bring back was everyone’s favorite – George O’Malley.

Rhimes said:

“If I could bring back any character, I’d bring back George. I love George so much, and I miss George so much and he was such an awesome character, and he was super funny and adorable and amazing. George”!

On the show, George, played by T.R Knight, famously died after jumping in front of a bus to save a woman’s life. Initially, the man’s identity was unknown, and George was therefore rushed to the hospital as a “John Doe.” Only after he traces the number ‘007’ while holding Meredith’s hand, she realizes who he actually is.

George ultimately died of his injuries after being declared brain dead.

Grey’s fans are set for more heartbreak in February 2023 as Meredith Grey played by Ellen Pompeo, will leave the show. Her last feature as a series regular will be in the episode “I’ll Follow the Sun,” which deals with Meredith’s last day at Grey Sloan Memorial.

Grey’s Anatomy is one of Shonda Rhime’s most popular shows, spanning 17 years and over 400 episodes. In 2017, Rhimes signed an estimated $100 million, four-year deal with Netflix and has since gone on to produce the number 1 worldwide hit, Bridgerton.
