Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One
The Mission: Impossible franchise keeps delivering, and so does Tom Cruise. He returns as Ethan Hunt in what he has described as “far and away the most dangerous thing we’ve ever attempted.” Get ready for mind-blowing stunts and explosive action scenes. Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ving Rhames also return.

Oppenheimer
Oppenheimer is undoubtedly one of the biggest movie releases of the year. Directed by Christopher Nolan, the biopic follows J Robert Oppenheimer, the “father of the atomic bomb,” who notoriously struggled with the aftermath of his invention his entire life. The film was shot in Imax, and we can be sure to expect gigantic fiery explosions.

The Little Mermaid
This live-action remake of the 1989 animated film sees Halle Bailey take on the title role as Ariel, a mermaid who longs to fit in with the human world. The cast of this classic musical fairy tale also includes Melissa McCarthy as the sea witch Ursula, and Javier Bardem as King Triton.

Dune: Part Two
A follow-up to Denis Villeneuve’s highly successful Dune film from 2021 sees the return of Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya on the desert planet of Arrakis. The film ultimately picks up where the previous movie left off, with Atreides seeking revenge for the attacks on his family.
Austin Butler joins the cast, as well as Christopher Walken and Florence Pugh.

Barbie
One of the most anticipated films of 2023 is Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. Starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, we’re in for a real treat. Photos of both actors rollerblading in hot pink costumes have already got the internet fired up, but we have a feeling that not all is what it seems. We cannot wait for this movie to hit the theatres.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The much-anticipated third installment of the Guardians films, sees Quill and the gang attempt to make a safe haven for alien refugees after buying Knowhere from the Collector. As usual, things don’t go quite to plan, and Quill and the Guardians must venture on a final mission to protect one of their team members.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
The 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a huge hit that brought together many variations of Spider-Men. The animated movie told the story of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore, Peter Parker (Jake Johnson), and even Spider-Woman, Gwen Stacy, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld. Across The Spider-Verse continues the saga and takes us on a journey to six parallel universes and hundreds of more Spider characters. It’s going to be a ride!

Wonka
This highly anticipated movie starring Timothée Chalamet is a prequel to the 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and dives into Willy Wonka’s early years as an eccentric chocolatier. The incredible cast also includes Olivia Colman, Jim Carter, and Rowan Atkinson.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
The latest installment in the franchise sees 80-year-old Harrison Ford once again embark on daring adventures as Indiana Jones. The film is set in 1969 and sees the return of John Rhys-Davies and new cast members such as Mads Mikkelsen as a Nazi villain and Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Indy’s god-daughter. This is the first Indiana Jones film not directed by Steve Spielberg. Instead, James Mangold (Walk The Line) directs.

Asteroid City
Asteroid City is Wes Anderson’s latest film in 1955 and takes place in a fictional US town. The plot revolves around a Junior Stargazer convention that sees students and parents join from across the country when a strange event suddenly disrupts things. The cast includes Tom Hanks, Tilda Swindon, Scarlett Johansson, Margot Robbie, Steve Carell, and Willem Dafoe.

Elemental
From the studio that made Inside Out comes a new animated feature that is sure to get the waterworks going. Pixar’s Elemental is set in Element City where everyone is made of either earth, water, fire, or air. The plot revolves around Wade and Ember, a water-man and a fire-woman, who discover just how much they have in common.

Challengers
The tennis love triangle story we didn’t know we needed. Luca Guadagnino returns with a romance story set on the court, following Tashi (Zendaya), a former professional player and the wife of tennis champion Art, played by Mike Faist. The plot sees Art fall into a slump but slowly return in a low-level Challengers tournament. There’s only one problem: His opponent is his childhood best friend and Tashi’s former lover. Drama anyone?

The film takes place following the events of Ms. Marvel, the TV Show available on Disney+. The Marvels sees the return of Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambea fighting for the good of the world .

This underdog film, directed by Taika Waititi, is based on the real story of the American Samoan football Team who lost to Australia in 2001. However, their luck begins to turn as they hire Thomas Rongen, a Dutch-US coach that wants to set the team on the path to victory. A feel-good, Cool Runnings type of film with Michael Fassbender starring as Coach Rongen.

Killers of the Flower Moon
Killers of the Flower Moon is based on David Grainn’s book, in which dozens of Osage Native Americans were murdered in Oklahoma. Known as the 1920s “Reign of Terror,” the film stars Jesse Plemons as the officer in charge of investigating the massacre. The movie is said to be a three-hour biopic but has yet to get a release date after being pushed back from the release schedule in 2022. The film also stars Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brendan Fraser, and John Lithgow.

Bradley Cooper returns to the big screen as Leonard Bernstein, the famed conductor, and composer of West Side Story. The film tells the story of Bernstein’s struggles as a celebrity as well as his marriage to Felicia Montealegre, who knew, long before anyone, that Bernstein was gay. The film also stars Maya Hawke and is produced by Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese.
