He Got Fired From His Job, Then Gave All Company Shirts to Homeless People in the Neighborhood

This guy from Austin, Texas, worked for a high-end specialist retail and corporate place. The building he worked in had really swanky bathrooms, presumably to be used by all the fancy clients that would come into the store.

The guy had been at the company for over ten years and, in that period of time, had amassed over 30 company shirts. These were a mix of polo shirts and button-ups, essentially quality shirts to be worn when speaking to the customers.

The guy came to learn that the company was being sold, and unfortunately, it was not to a very nice man. The new boss arrived and immediately decided to fire the guy, as well as around 100 of the loyal employees who had been with the company for a long time.

This didn’t sit well with the guy, who then decided to teach the new owner a lesson. Living in Austin, the guy knew that there would be quite a large number of homeless people living under the highways, and so he decided to do a good deed while getting revenge on his former boss.

He went home and grabbed all 30 shirts he had collected over the years and passed them out to all the homeless people in the community. Not only did they have a new shirt to wear, but he also told them that they could use the bathrooms in the store. And with a company shirt on, who could deny them?

The guy ends his story by saying that his wife had stashed away even more shirts than he knew and that he might take another trip to town soon to drop off a few more shirts.

This was a story posted by a user on Reddit, and his revenge plot got quite a few responses.

One user said: “If I had an award, it would be yours. Brilliant move!”

Another noted: “Even if temporary, you gave the homeless people a nice place to use the bathroom and freshen up, which is a kind thing to do.”

However, some were concerned that the guy would cause trouble for other employees, with one user saying: “The only problem I see with this is how bad I will feel for the people who work in the store, with nothing to do with this whole situation, who will most likely be the ones directly dealing with it, not the owner.”

Other users voiced their concerns for the homeless people: “Ehh, IMO, this was unethical. He is using their misfortune as a means to get revenge on his company rather than seeking to help them. They’re likely to get chewed out and kicked out of the building.”

What do you think of this guy’s revenge act? Was he right to give his shirts away to the homeless, or should he have left it alone?
